Overview

This is a 5 hour course put together by Nevada Nurses Foundation in support of the Margaret Curley Rural and Frontier Scholarship for Nevada Nurses. During this course we cover topics on post-partum hemorrhage, cultural diversity, survivorship, wound care and mental health.  

Learning Objectives

Presentation 1: 

  • Discuss the 9-week program that gives cancer survivors the tools they need to help them to be well again. 
  • List the elements of the rehabilitation program to help people regain their physical, emotional, and spiritual health post-treatment, as well as bring wellness back into focus for them. 
  • Provide the research data to support ATTH

Presentation 2: 

  • Identify mental health resources in our area and how to connect patients to services
  • Identify patients who need mental health resources, 
  • Identify services available in rural Nevada, 
  • Be aware of how to connect patients to available resources

Presentation 3: 

  • Discuss 4 major types of wounds 
  • List guidelines for EBP wound care therapy

Presentation 4:

  • Explain the significance of how core cultural traits and values of Immigrant Filipino nurses affect their work and life satisfaction.
  • Differentiate the healthy and unhealthy forms of the core cultural traits.
  • Cite examples of cognitive, affective, and behavioral strategies provided during the 21- day self-care program.
  • State the impact of a culturally sensitive self-care program on addressing burnout among Immigrant Filipino Nurses.

Presentation 5:

  • Discuss new initiative for early detection of PPH.
  • List key points of E-Motive.
  • Define early PPH and late PPH to include etiology and risk factors.
